The Newtown Hotel was originally opened in 1871 as the Newmarket; it was demolished, rebuilt and renamed in 1912 as The Newtown Hotel.
This Historic venue has its own stance in the local Toowoomba history books with one of its late publicans Major Bob McInnes receiving the Military Cross in New Guinea during World War 2. The original still standing hotel was constructed in 1932.
The Newtown Hotel was purchased by the current owners, the Hakfoort Group in 1997. Plans for the Newtown Hotel were immediately put into motion transforming Newtown Hotel from a pub of yesteryear to a modern hotel with a family atmosphere.
